Dr ARTHUR'S personal experience as a "back-patient":

Some years ago Dr Arthur had a serious relapse of back pain, which nearly immobilised him and forced him to be hospitalised for some time. Conventional pain management hardly brought relief. He had to look for more efficient methods of treatment. Together with a Sports-Medicine colleague and an open-minded and knowledgeable physiotherapist, he found a method for interrupting the vicious cycle of chronic back pain, decreased muscle strength and over all malfunction of the spine.

The only way out of the so-called fatal DECONDITIONING SYNDROME is to initiate the body's own innate healing mechanisms by

1 ) RELAXATION and STRETCHING EXERCISES to relieve pain in tensed- up and strained muscles as a first step, proven in any spine therapy before and

2 ) EXERCISES, which improve mobility and strength of all spine structures, reconditioning the loading capacity of the body for everyday life.

Apart from exercises two other daily activities contributed to Dr Arthur's recovery: swimming in a warm pool - preferably back-stroke - and Natural Inversion Spine Traction Therapy with a " BACKSWING " , also known as a gravity table .

At this time a chiropractor, Dr Russel Sher, wrote an interesting article about the benefits of Inversion under the title "Get into the topsy-turvy world of staying young". He stipulated that practicing inversion - being upside down & see-sawing on the table – twice a day for a few minutes could actually cure a ‘slipped disc’ and chronic back pain in most cases. As a bonus those pleasant and easy exercises rejuvenate by deliberately enriching the brain’s supply of oxygen, activating a venous blood flow in the lower spine and boosting the endocrine immune systems. A comprehensive range of medical research results is backing up to day his statements.

To practice Inversion you need a training device. This can be a reclining "see-saw"- board which uses the weight of the body to provide gentle, graded traction or a seesawing armchair ( Inversion Exerciser, HANG-UP* , BACKSWING* or INVERTA CHAIR* ).

Comfort, security, exercise- options and the personal history of back pain problems should decide which Inversion unit to choose. For fitting a specialist could assist.

Is it also an affordable Exerciser? - Compare it to the costs of sending a middle-class sedan to the garage or buying a new car seat or the price of a complete X-ray assessment of your spine. After comprehensive diagnostics Dr. Arthur had to accept the fact that scar tissue from a previous operation was causing the awful pain- attacks and that a second operation would only create more scar tissue with a minor chance of giving relief. To cut a long story short: Practicing daily those exercises are allowing Dr. Arthur to day to work, take care of his patients again and also enjoy his life - free from back- attacks.
